FAQs

I’m an experienced player looking to play 11-a-side, which is the best team for me?

If you are able to commit to weekly training sessions and fortnightly matches, our First Team would suit you best.

Training is on Mondays, 7:30 - 8:30pm at Cantelowes Gardens in Camden. Matches are on Clapham Common every other Saturday. Fixtures can be found here.

Player fees are around £295 for the whole season, payable in monthly instalments. If you join later in the season, you will pay less.

We are a friendly bunch looking for enthusiastic players who are able to commit as much as possible. For more info on this team, please check out our Teams page!

I’m a complete beginner, which is the best team for me?

Our Foundation Team is perfect for complete beginners or less confident players. We encourage anyone to attend who wants to make friends, get fit and learn a new skill!

Sessions are on Tuesdays at Castlehaven Sports Pitches in Camden, 7-8pm. These are £6.88 PAYG.

You also have the option to play 5-a-side matches in the Goalposts Beginners League at Britannia Leisure Centre in Hoxton on Sundays. These are £9.50 PAYG.

For more information on this team, and to sign up today, please check out the Teams page!

I’m not sure what team I’d be best suited to…

If you feel you sit inbetween our two teams, please drop us an email at camdenroadwfc@gmail.com with some information on your experience and what you’re looking to get out of your club. We can then try and best advise!

I’m not looking to play competitive matches, can I just train with you?

If you are a beginner or less confident player - absolutely. Our weekly sessions are catered for those both wanting to play competitive matches, and those not. There is no pressure to play competitive matches if you are a Foundation Player.

If you are a more experienced player, unfortunately we can’t offer a training-only option right now due to limited pitch capacity.

Are you an inclusive club?

Absolutely! All women and non-binary players, from all backgrounds, are welcome at Camden Road. We play in inclusive leagues and are not affiliated with the FA. We always start our sessions with names, pronouns and an (often silly) question so we can get to know each other.

Do you offer casual 5-a-side for more experienced players?

We enter a team into the 5-a-side Intermediate Goalposts League in the Hoxton area from around April-September every year. Throughout the rest of the year, there are sometimes opportunities to play small-sided tournaments.

We have a designated contact group for those wanting to be casual players who are called upon when we have small-sided matches and tournaments. Please get in touch if you would like to be added to this!

How do I make payments?

When you need to make a payment, we request it through the app ‘Spond’, which we require you to download before playing with us. It’s completely free to download and register. Once we have requested payment, you can easily make it through the app. We use this app to organise sessions and fixtures too, so it’s easy to keep track of everything!

How many members do you have?

80 registered members and growing!

Can I donate to your club?

Yes please!! We are a player-run club that puts all funds straight back into the club. We do not make profit, so all donations are gratefully received.

You can make donations via our Crowdfunder here, or email us at camdenroadwfc@gmail.com to make larger donations or discuss sponsorship.

Thank you so much!

What should I wear to my first session?

Wear something comfortable! Astro boots, trainers or soft-moulds on your feet. No metal studs are allowed on our training pitches.

Shin pads are optional but encouraged.

Changing rooms and toilets are available at all of our locations. The changing rooms at Cantelowes Skatepark and Clapham Common where our First Team play are not gendered. The changing rooms at Castlehaven and Britannia Leisure Centre are gendered at the decision of the venues, but we operate a buddy system for those players who need additional or separate spaces.

We play in all weathers, so check the forecast!

Do you have qualified coaches?

Yes! Daniel our First Team Coach is a highly-experienced UEFA-C Qualified coach. Anna, our Lead Foundation Coach, is currently undertaking her UEFA-C Licence, due to be completed at the start of 2026.

Assistant and Cover coaches for Foundation Sessions have plenty of experience in playing and facilitating sessions too, so you’re in safe hands!

I can’t commit to every week, is that ok?

For our Foundation Players - absolutely. It is completely pay-as-you-play. No pressure!

We do expect our First Team Players to be able to commit to most weeks. However, we understand life can get in the way! Please email us if you are not sure about your ability to commit.

Are you a sociable team?

Yes!! We have a dedicated Socials team who organise all sorts of fun across the club. Past socials have included interactive football, darts, shuffleboard, quizzes, bingo, cocktail nights and theatre trips. We also visit the pub after most matches and training sessions, although we try to have a good mix of drink and non-drink based activities.

Do you offer any financial support for players that can’t afford sessions?

We strive to make our fees affordable for our players, and offer grace on delayed payments and time out due to injury where possible. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer any discounts or subsidised spots in the club at the moment, but please reach out to us if this is a concern to you.

Unfortunately we are unable to accept under 18s at this point, but are looking at expanding this in the future.

Can you accept under 18s?

We worked with Icarus over the course of 2 months last season to create our beautiful yellow kit! And if you join the club you will have the option to buy your very own…

Who designed your very stylish kit?
